Especially if the city is not doing very much fine financially, you can leave some areas with no coverage (but within easy reach, for dispatchment), so omitting some fire stations or deferring their placement is a common practice. I tend to prefer a honeycomb-like pattern (like the one used for mobile phone antennas), mostly using the large police station, and the deluxe one in certain places (it has a somewhat higher cost, but larger coverage and stronger effect), while I may use the small ones (or the police kiosk) to fill "holes", or close to the city borders, or coastal areas, where a large one would be a waste (eg half of the coverage going waste - then move it a little closer in and use a small instead of a large one).įor fire, placement is not as demanding, cause firemen can be dispatched, so the arrangement can be a little less dense. The best you can do there is some (significant) overlap. They have a max population of 2,019 and do not have different buildings depending on the wealth forecast. Another problem, you cannot play with funding with police and fire buildings (if you fund then even slightly lower, you are risking a strike).įor police stations, the problem is that their effect attenuates as you move away off the building - at the edge of the circle their effect drops to zero - that is the areas close to the periphery have very little protection. SimCity BuildIt Best Layouts by Tim updated November 17, 2020, 2:15 pm Your city layout is the foundation of all success in SimCity BuildIt space is always limited and with the wrong setup you can pretty much limit yourself at the later game. Not to mention that their lot size (3x3, 3x4) and relatively low height, might be a problem too (planning-wise, architecturally and aesthetically). It's a big headache cause they need to be neither too sparse (not satisfactory coverage, less effective), nor too dense (higher cost, waste of space and money, redundancy, even negative effects, like oppressive police). I followed this layout and modified all my city to be able to get this road layout. When I start (-ed ) playing a new city tile, my first job is to make some rough plan about networks placement (decide where to lay major arteries), and immediately then plan the police and fire placement. In any case, you don't need to cover water or undeveloped areas. How many? There isn't some specific number, you just need to cover all land in the city tile (as a part of the tile can be water, the number may vary).
